Meet Our Masterminds

Founder and Tutor
Rachel Michelle Fernandes is a multi-faceted educator and community engagement specialist. While earning her master’s degree in Rhetoric and Writing Studies from San Diego State University, Rachel taught three semesters of first-year writing courses with a focus on sharpening students’ academic writing skills and media literacy. While teaching college freshmen, Rachel began tutoring high school and middle school students in a variety of subjects, including SAT and ACT prep courses.
While finishing her thesis project, Rachel received an Adult ADHD diagnosis that completely reshaped her relationship with learning. Her teaching/tutoring practices combine the use of executive functioning mechanisms and intrinsic motivational tools with strategic academic planning and single-subject problem solving. Her firm belief is that practice and a sense of mastery are the keys to unlocking any student’s potential. Her success with students thus far has emerged out of a place of deep mutual respect and a passion for learning as a continually evolving process full of unique possibilities. Rachel founded Neuro-Champion Tutors as a way of expanding her own practices while also matching other uniquely qualified educators with students in need.

Project Manager and Tutor
Hello! I’m Cesar Gochez. I’m a 2020 UC Santa Barbara undergraduate and 2025 CSU San Marcos Master’s in Business graduate. My undergraduate studies were in Psychological & Brain Sciences and Communication, and my graduate studies were specialized in data analysis.
I have three years of experience tutoring, and I’ve been working as a behavior therapist on and off since completing my psychology degree in 2020. Today, I run an ETO STEAM lab at two LAUSD sites where I use VEX IQ robotics and Makerspace engineering tools to administer fun after school activities and lessons for students. My strengths as a tutor are that I am trilingual (English, French, Spanish), I have a thorough understanding of introductory to intermediate university Statistics, and I also have great writing skills. If your child is not reading at grade level, this is something I’d be happy to help with. The ability to create that type of long term impact on someone is intrinsically fulfilling to me.
